PROGRAMS FOR QUILT GUILDS 2010

Using Recycled Elements in Quilts

Learn to use the fascinating stuff that most people throw away to make your quilts and wearables more interesting. Wine corks, paper clips, vegetable bags, old sweaters, screws, washers, discarded silk leaves, and various types of plastic, metal, and wood make appearances in this trunk show and lecture. You'll also get tips and advice on what works and how to use it.

Companion class:  Inside Out Quilt

You'll start with the batting and add your own focus fabric plus my stash of recycled clothing and embellishments to make an art quilt that is completely unique. Includes design concepts, machine strip piecing, raw-edge appliqué and raw-edge binding.

Pushing the Selvedge: Fun and Funky Fiber Techniques That You Just Might Have to Try.

This is the new program I am have developed for 2010.  It includes instuctions and examples of a variety of ways to use paint, paper, plastic, natural elements, recycled embellishments and unlikely fibers in your quilts. You will learn about techniques that are truly outised the box or "beyond the selvedge."

Companion class:  Surface Design Sampler

The new version of this class, updated for 2010, will give you a chance to experience some of the "fun and funky" techniques that I discuss in my lecture.
